David Ignatius (Commentary, Aug. 18) tries to blame the Republican Congress for failing to compromise on a budget plan that would avoid sequestration to take effect. The Senate hasn't put forth a budget in four years and the Ryan Plan was never allowed to come to the floor of the Senate for a vote. How can a compromise be reached when the Democrats refuse to obey the law and don't offer a budget year after year? This looks political and juvenile. It's time to send some adults to Washington so that the American dream won't be lost. It's wrong to spend money we don't have and to encourage people to live on welfare and food stamps.
