— Demolition began Tuesday on the First Baptist Church of El Reno.

The church, which had stood at 401 S Brickford since 1926, was founded in 1890.

In September, the church's Rev., Charlie Blount assured church members that the church was not dying but rather simply changing locations.

The church's congregation sold its property to El Reno Public Schools and the church's old location will be used for expansion of El Reno High School.

First Baptist Church of El Reno's new location will be south of El Reno's Public Safety Center, just off SW 27 and is expected to be built by next year.
