DENALI NATIONAL PARK AND PRESERVE, Alaska (AP) — The road into Denali National Park and Preserve is open to Mile 30 for visitors in private vehicles, weather permitting.
However, between Oct. 1 and 7, the road will be closed to all traffic beyond park headquarters at mile three for culvert replacement. The park, in a news release, says the road will reopen Oct. 8, weather permitting.
The park advises visitors to call ahead for weather and road information, saying conditions can change quickly. Currently, minor traffic delays can be expected for work on the paved portion of the road.
Park facilities west of headquarters are closed, except for vault toilets at the Mountain Vista trailhead, Savage River parking area and Teklanika rest area.
The Riley Creek Campground is open but water has been shut off for the season.
