LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dense fog advisories have expired along the Southern California coast and ground stops for some arriving flights have been lifted at the international airports in Los Angeles in San Diego.

The ground stops were ordered early Wednesday morning due to low visibility levels, and some flights headed to both airports were diverted to Ontario International about 40 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.

LAX tweeted that flights diverted to Ontario would return to Los Angeles.

The ground stop held aircraft at departure airports within about an hour's flying time of the two Southern California airports.

Low clouds and fog have been forecast to return to coastal airports Wednesday evening but lift overnight.
