Oklahoma State cornerback Justin Gilbert wasn’t the only Cowboy slowed by a shoulder injury in Saturday night’s 49-17 rout of Baylor.

Starting running back Desmond Roland had a similar injury, which was actually sustained the previous week at Texas.

Roland tallied 11 carries for 36 yards against the Bears but did not get a carry in the second half. He said Tuesday that he’s been getting treatment two or three times per day and expects to be healed by Bedlam next Saturday.

“I need this time to get my shoulder back 100 percent so I can run over some ‘Boomer Sooners,’” Roland said. “It was kind of nerve-wracking again last game, just thinking about, ‘What if I lower my shoulder or fall on it the wrong way?’

“But I just put it all out of my mind after the first play.”

Gilbert admitted it was frustrating not being 100 percent in such a massive game Saturday but also expects his shoulder to be healthy by Bedlam.

“(The injury) kept me from doing the thing that I wanted to do the most, which was press those guys up (in coverage),” Gilbert said. “I had to play a little bit off of them because I didn’t want to make the injury any worse than it was.

“But going into this next week, it should be 100 percent.”
