ADA — Authorities said a preacher told the Pontotoc County undersheriff he did not know why he had been molesting two boys for several months, but it might have something to do with blood pressure medications he took.

Kenneth Wayne Huneycutt, 60, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, was charged this week with four counts of lewd molestation involving two boys, ages 10 and 6, according to court documents.

Authorities said Huneycutt told Undersheriff Joe Glover the molestations began in the spring and occurred at least 15 times when the 10-year-old boy would frequently spend the night at his house, and at least once when the 6-year-old stayed over.

Dec. 11, the last admitted contact with the boys, Huneycutt told both boys not to tell anyone about the acts and to keep it "their secret,” Glover said in a probable-cause affidavit. "Ken said the boys agreed not to tell anyone about it,” the affidavit states.

Authorities said that day, both boys did tell, and Glover was called by a state Department of Human Services worker who had been contacted by the boys’ mothers after the boys said Huneycutt touched their private parts and made them touch his.

After talking with the children, Glover said he went to Huneycutt’s house and the preacher admitted touching the boys "in a sexual way.”

Huneycutt turned himself in to authorities Monday and was released after posting a $100,000 bail.

Efforts to contact the church were unsuccessful.
