Device explodes in mailbox of Tulsa-area district attorney

CLAREMORE — An explosive device placed in the mailbox of District Attorney Janice Steidley’s home detonated on Tuesday, she said during a news conference Wednesday.

The blast damaged the mailbox and the mail inside it but did not cause any injuries, she said.

Steidley said remnants of the device were recovered but did not say what type of device was used.
