DEWAR — Before a packed gymnasium, Ronnell Lewis made history Wednesday morning in his hometown of Dewar, becoming the first Dragon to sign with the University of Oklahoma.

“I’m going to be playing for everyone back home,” Lewis said. “It’s a great feeling to know that all these people are going to be supporting me.”

The 6-foot-3, 240-pound outside linebacker drove to Dewar from Norman on Tuesday night for his signing ceremony that was attended by the entire school and many people from the community.

Lewis is an early enrollee at OU and has already begun working out with the team and will participate in spring drills.

“I’m working out real hard,” Lewis said. “I want to make a good impression.”
