About 44,000 people in Oklahoma soon will see their state-collected child support income drop by $25 each year.

The Federal Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 requires the payment of $25 per qualifying child support case each year. The state Department of Human Services Division of Child Support Services paid the fees until Sept. 30.

DHS has been ordered to cut 5 percent from its operating budget because of a state revenue shortfall.
