Orthodox traditions

Lazarus Saturday. On Saturday, many Orthodox Christian church congregations will celebrate a feast day called Lazarus Saturday. Like other Orthodox Christian churches, St. Elijah Orthodox Christian Church will celebrate with special liturgy and activities designed for this day. The feast day commemorates the miracle of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead as described in Scripture.

Easter together. Most years, Western Christian churches and Eastern Orthodox churches celebrate Easter on different dates. The most recent time the two celebrated Easter on the same date was 2010. In 2014, Western Christian churches and Eastern Orthodox churches will again celebrate the holiday the same day — April 20.
