Digital beef: Kevin Durant calls out Dwyane Wade, Wade answers back

Oh how quickly things can get around these days.

Kevin Durant did a short interview with CineSport’s Noah Coslov on Tuesday, and within the brief conversation, Kevin Durant was asked about Sports Illustrated’s recent rankings of top-10 players in the NBA. Here’s the magazine’s list:

1. LeBron James
2. Kevin Durant
3. Chris Paul
4. Tony Parker
5. Russell Westbrook
6. Tim Duncan
7. Dwight Howard
8. Dwyane Wade
9. Kobe Bryant
10. Carmelo Anthony

Coslov asked Durant if anyone was missing from the list.

Durant quickly mentioned an ex-teammate: “I think you’re missing James Harden.”

That obviously meant KD believed someone should be bumped. So Coslov asked him.

Durant’s response: “Dwyane Wade”

Quick, to the point and very interesting.

Wade, in most people’s eyes, is already a Hall of Famer, but injuries have clearly slowed him the past couple seasons and Harden is emerging. So this isn’t an out-of-left-field opinion.

But Wade, who was quickly alerted of the comment, apparently didn’t appreciate or agree with it.

Late Tuesday, he sent out this message on Instagram:

Literally less than five minutes later, Durant sent out this message on Twitter:

Ah, a cross-platform digital beef between two of the NBA’s biggest superstars. And you thought the Thunder-Heat matchups couldn’t get more interesting…
