The Digital Bookmobile National Tour is coming to Norman to help kick off the summer reading program.

The Digital Bookmobile will be at Norman Public Library West, 300 Norman Center Court, from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

At the free event, readers of all ages will learn how to access eBooks from the library through interactive demonstrations and high-definition instructional videos. A gadget gallery — featuring Kindle HD, iPad Mini, Android Galaxy Tablet, NOOK HD+, Sony Reader, Kindle Paperwhite, Windows Phone 8 and more — will help visitors discover portable devices that are compatible with the library’s download service.

“We are very excited to have the Digital Bookmobile visiting Norman,” said Norman West branch manager Rebekah Lynam. “As our customers gear up for summer vacations and the summer reading program, we want to let them know about the great audiobook and eBook options they can download free through the library.”

The Digital Bookmobile is housed inside an 18-wheel tractor-trailer. The 74-foot community outreach vehicle is a high-tech update of the traditional bookmobile that has served communities for decades.
