American Airlines Inc. gave out free, one-day passes to its Admirals Club lounges at airports across the country. Gilt Groupe Inc. gave discounts to its member's only shopping network, and the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas upgraded customers to swankier hotel rooms.
Why? All because of the high Klout scores of customers who used social media. Klout pioneered the measurement of how far and wide messages on social media reach other users.
Those marketing secrets of “digital influencers,” bloggers and brand builders will be discussed Saturday at the Confluence conference in Oklahoma City, an event organized by OPUBCO Communications Group. The conference will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lyric Theatre in Oklahoma City's Plaza District. An after-conference social event will follow.
“The digital influencers are the audience who sets tastes and sparks the conversations online,” said David Christopher, Confluence founder and senior inbound marketing manager at OPUBCO. “These are the people we most want to reach.”
Christopher said Confluence will have speakers on a variety of topics related to social media, marketing and branding. Many of the speakers have been featured at national and international social media conferences such as Pubcon, SMX and Altitude Summit.Confluence Website
