In the past month or so, I have been making it a point to attend shows that I normally wouldn’t have on my day-to-day calendar. By going “outside my box,” I have discovered many new artists and venues, many of them have been right in front of me the entire time.

This week I attended Punk Rock Tuesday at The Drunken Fry, at 5100 N Classen Drive. The Drunken Fry is a remarkably small bar to have live music, but they do it anyway. They are known for their amazing fries, which come with an array of different dipping sauces, and their general-punk rock attitude combined with a friendly staff. Punk Rock Tuesday happens every Tuesday, an event that I wasn’t aware of until a local favorite of mine, “Your Mom”, told me to come on out.

The Fry took on the ambiance of a dive bar with one of the most high-energy crowds I have ever witnessed. The first band, Matt Jewett and the Rowdy Dow, pumped up punk fans for Chokehold Stab — an extremely loud (yet enjoyable) heavy punk band. The lead singer for Chokehold Stab banged his microphone against his forehead to the point of blood loss and kept on going.
