Discrimination lawsuit against Oklahoma County Commissioner Brian Maughan is dismissed
Charges of age discrimination filed by former Oklahoma County employees against one of the county's elected officials have been dismissed.
District 2 Commissioner Brian Maughan is no longer listed as an individual in the federal lawsuit, but he remains a defendant in his capacity as a member of the three-person board of county commissioners.
Eight former employees of District 2 filed suit against Maughan and the county in 2010.
They claim they were unlawfully fired by Maughan in the aftermath of an investigation into the alleged misuse of county property.
Two others previously listed as defendants — the county's human resources director, Dan Matthews, and Maughan's chief deputy, Steve Satterwhite — were removed from the list of defendants in May.
A secondary lawsuit filed by a current District 2 employee, James Kalkbrenner, was settled in October. The details of the settlement agreement have not been made public.
The discrimination lawsuit is scheduled to be heard by a jury Feb. 12.
