SPERRY — A former Sperry Public Schools employee who has skin cancer and contends she was forced to serve playground duty in the sun has filed a federal lawsuit against the school district.

Keli Morgan, a former Cherokee Nation family advocate for Sperry Elementary School, filed the complaint Friday in U.S. District Court in Tulsa, alleging the school failed to accommodate her under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The lawsuit follows an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint filed by Morgan earlier this year against Sperry Elementary School Principal Stephanie Holcomb. Similar allegations went unresolved, Morgan’s attorney, Jeff Nix said Holcomb is no longer with the school. Superintendent Jim Sisney said Friday he was unaware of the federal lawsuit.
