Treat smart on field and in classroom
A team's quarterback is supposed to be the smartest player on the field because of the quick decisions he has to make throughout a game. Washington's Dakota Treat takes that intelligence into the classroom, as well.
Treat, who scored a 32 on his ACT, is being recruited by Ivy League schools Brown and Dartmouth.
"He's a great leader and quarterback that runs the option well," Washington coach Brad Beller said.
Treat (6-foot, 180 pounds) plays safety on defense.
Frederick keeps improving
Frederick's 5-5 season last year was a drastic improvement for a team that won three total games the previous two seasons.
"I think we will have a vastly improved group than last year," third-year coach Hugh Farmer said. "We have a lot of kids coming back and that have worked really hard this summer."
