Carl Albert coach Gary Rose doesn’t mind using his stars on both sides of the ball. Last year, defensive standouts Daytawion Lowe and Christian Smith also played significant minutes on offense. This year, J.T. Realmuto, the Titans’ three-year starter at quarterback, figures to contribute in the secondary. Realmuto is expected to spell free safety Tre Porter at times. "With those secondary guys having to play so much offense, we’re going to need him back there,” Rose said. "We’ve just got to try to keep those guys as fresh as possible.”
Reps tough to get for Guthrie QBsHaving to make a decision between three potential starting quarterbacks isn’t easy, but getting those players reps in practice is even harder. That’s what Guthrie coach Rafe Watkins is dealing with as the Blue Jays prepare for a season that will include some uncertainty at the most important position on the field. "Obviously, there’s only so much time in practice, which means each guy can only get so many reps,” Watkins said. "We might have a kid go three plays and then sit six plays out. That makes it hard to get into a rhythm.” Guthrie opens the season at Bishop McGuinness, which is going through its own quarterback competition.
Duo poised to fill void for ShawneeThe loss of star receiver and Tulsa commit Brett Davis left a big hole in Shawnee’s offense. But the Wolves have a couple of guys who will try to duplicate the production: Saulyer Saxon and Leon Davis. "Leon is a transfer from Seminole, and we’re real excited with what he brings to the table,” quarterback Brayle Brown said.
Linebackers to lead NobleTrying to find a defensive line and a secondary won’t be easy for Noble, but the linebacker spot is something coach Ray Crawley doesn’t have to worry about. Three starters return from last year’s group with seniors Kaylon Mercer and Matt Kent and junior Trey Jones.

Harrah’s strength should be its defense, which returns eight starters, including lineman Dylan Aguilar. ... Ardmore quarterback Reed Downing is a three-year starter and hopes to take the Tigers back to the playoffs after a rare season in which they missed the postseason.
