A lot of the districts went through major changes, but that is not the case in District A-7 as the seven teams were in the same district the last two years.

The biggest change in this district is the scheduling as the teams are going from having one non-district game to having four the next two years.

"We're going to be able to play some of our biggest natural rivals again," Hominy coach Scott Harmon said. "We can play Cleveland, Pawnee and Pawhuska and picked up Newkirk. That's going to be good for us."

Morrison coach Cory Bales sees it in a different light. Because of how tough its non-district schedule is, he said "you're definitely going to know what your team is made out of."

Change at Woodland

Woodland was clearly the favorite among the coaches for which team would win the district. And despite head coach Trent Worley leaving last week to take an assistant spot at Lincoln Christian, the Cougars are still picked to be No. 1.

"It was an opportunity that was too good to pass up, both professionally and personally," Worley said. "It's always tough to leave kids that you work with so much, but they'll win a lot of ballgames."

The Woodland school board meets tonight, when a coach will be named.

The Cougars are anchored by a pair of linemen in Caleb Cook and Kade Cox.
