“Offensively, we're going to lean on our quarterback,” he said. “He's a four-year starter.”

Douthit completed 92 of 167 attempts for 1,672 yards with 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions as a junior.

Tatum accounted for 59 tackles and three interceptions last season.

During his first season as coach at Wetumka, Wayman Potts led the Chieftains to a playoff berth. He said he likes how his team is shaping up for the coming season.

“We lost five seniors from last year's team,” he said. “We've got several young kids coming up who should be able to fill in.”

Wetumka is one of three B-4 teams to have earned a spot in the 2011 playoffs. Potts believes it will be hard for any team make it out of the district this season.

“Our district is one of the toughest in the state if not the toughest,” he said.
