WASHINGTON — On the cusp of a key legislative push, President Barack Obama on Monday filled the Rose Garden with doctors supportive of his health care overhaul, saying "nobody has more credibility with the American people on this issue than you do.”
The
Senate Finance Committee is expected to clear its long-debated and scrutinized bill this week. The latest version will cover fewer people, after senators last week softened penalties for not carrying health insurance.
Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., said she expects it will cover 92 percent or 93 percent of Americans, down from about 95 percent in earlier versions.
For a visual plug from some medical pros, the
White House arranged for the president to have some 150 doctors representing all 50 states just outside the West Wing.
"When you cut through all the noise and all the distractions that are out there, I think what’s most telling is that some of the people who are most supportive of reform are the very medical professionals who know the health care system best,” said Obama.
But
Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., an orthopedic surgeon for 25 years, said many doctors, nurses and patients strongly oppose Obama’s proposals.
They are greatly alarmed at proposed cuts in
Medicare, he said, and doctors and hospitals also want provisions against "abusive lawsuits.”

They have caused a lot of problems in the middle east screwing countries over in the name of oil.

Cheny was Not the vice president and Karl Rove had more power than the President himself under both Bush administrations if you read some of the trash the Democrats were saying.
I dated a fellow's stepdaughter that worked finances for Bush, Cheny and Rove. One day he said, "You don't like Clinton, do you?" I said "No". He said the 3 republicans were worse than Clinton could ever start to be and that "Rove was instrumental in getting the 2 Pres. Bush's elected and Jeb also." He insisted Rove was the money man. I have no way of disputing him since he knew them personally.
But lets not change the subject Don, explain to me why this is acceptable and who's to blame:
Average annual profit by the top 10 health insurance companies in 2000 was $2.4 billion and in 2007 was $13 billion (S.E.C. statistics).
According to the Census Bureau, 13% of Americans lost their insurance from 2000-2007.

Not when there is a lap in your coverage.
What insurance company do you work for anyway?
Man Don, I bet you feel like a real A-hole...
You want to have a serious debate instead of name calling? Since I am soo dumb....
I have a seizure disorder, I have since I was 10. I changed jobs 11 months ago and my new employers insurance won't pay for 1. My $234 a month medicine 2. My neurology appointments 3. my EEGs and 4. My blood tests to monitor my liver functions due to my medicines.
So up yours jerk face! You have NO idea because you obviously are lucky or you work for an insurance company. I pay $100 a month for my insurance which doesn't do squat and won't for another month. Is that fair? Do I have any other choices? Your blind defense of a dirty, thieving, lying industry points out your obvious ignorance of reality.
Somewhat. However, I am very leery about tort reform. For instance, if I have to have an amputation and the doctor cuts off the wrong limb (which has happened several times in this country) I want to be able to sue for much more that $250,000. I think the tort reform should be aimed at the malpractice insurance companies and their profits/rates.
Yes, I think they should have interstate insurance but a non-profit, public option should be available, but everyone must pay for their coverage, nothing free. We need to get rid of the hidden tax we pay now (unpaid bills for treatments for the uninsured) and the rationing currently done by the insurance companies.
We need to move away from employer based insurance and allow interstate insurance and get rid of pre-existing conditions and dropping coverage for people getting ill.
Louis, there is something seriouly wrong with you. You need to seek professional help to deal with your anger. I pray that you do not own firearms, as you present a danger to yourself and to the public. Please look into getting some help with your displaced anger...
When you call the President of the United States a nappy headed brutha, yes it is racist. And there is a difference between making music and spouting hatred on a chat board.
As for President Obama pupetting legislation, how come there are 8 completely different bills coming out of committees? That makes no sense. You need not worry about these problems, they are obviously too complicated for you to understand, boy.
Are Americans dying too soon? The answer is yes. When it comes to "preventable deaths" — an array of illnesses and injuries that should not kill at an early age — the United States trails other industrialized nations and has been falling further behind over the past decade.
Although the United States now spends $2.4 trillion a year on medical care — vastly more per capita than comparable countries — the nation ranks near the bottom on premature deaths caused by illnesses such as diabetes, epilepsy, stroke, influenza, ulcers and pneumonia, according to research by the nonpartisan Commonwealth Fund published in the journal Health Affairs.
As for the legislation....it is being written by B. Hussien Obama's puppets, so he may as well write it himself.
According to the Census Bureau, 13% of Americans lost their insurance from 2000-2007.
I'm not against people making profits, I'm against people making profits at the expense of people's lives. According to a Harvard study this year, 44,000 people have died due to lack of insurance. We've gone to war for less than that so why can't we pass legislation to end this killing of the American people?
Whats Obamacare? Show me Obamacare! He hasn't written any legislation, congress has and last I recall, President Obama is not in congress. The only reform he's announced he wants is if you like your insurance, keep it, if you like your doctor, Keep them, get rid of the pre-existing condition clause, can't drop people if they get sick and can't deny treatment prescribed by a doctor and have a public option (which majority of Americans want) to keep insurance companies from price gouging.
As for your racism, I feel sorry for you, you're stuck in the early 20th century. Did you pick up your hood from the cleaners? I hear there is a good old fashion cross burning tonight. It just kills you that a black man is saving this country you honky lipped, redneck, dip chewing, 4 toothed MF.
