A homeless man in the Washington state area has his dog to thank for saving his life.

KIRO TV reports that police were able to find the man, who was suffering from a medical emergency, because his dog tracked down a woman nearby.

The woman was walking her own dog when she spotted another dog with a note attached to its harness.

The note said “Help” in big letters. It also said “Send Help. No Joke. Cannot Walk.”

Police said the man attached the note to his dog’s harness and sent him off in a “last-ditch effort” to survive, according to KIRO TV.
