A man was injured slightly Monday when he was struck in the chest by an unknown object as Oklahoma City police fired a shot at his dog, police Capt. Patrick Stewart said.
Police responded to a call of a domestic dispute in the 3000 block of NW 18 about 5:15 p.m. When an officer opened the door, the pit bull terrier charged the officer, Stewart said.
The officer fired at the dog, which was struck. Either the bullet or an object the bullet hit ricocheted and struck the owner, Stewart said. It did not penetrate the skin but did cause bruising and swelling. The owner was taken to a hospital in good condition and was expected to be released Monday night.
The dog was taken by animal control.
