1’s. His fans adore him for his songs have touched their hearts. They sang the lyrics of “Amanda†with him, cheered wildly when the first chords were strummed for “Tulsa Time†and wiped away tears during classics such as “Lay Down Beside Me,†“You’re My Best Friend†and “I Believe In You.†Outside of his songs, the laid back Williams seems to be a man of few words, but his fans were eager for conversation Thursday night in the intimate setting. A woman shouted from the balcony to Williams that he had autographed an album for her daughter, Amanda, 33 years ago in Tulsa. Another woman told Williams how good he looked Thursday night. That even made Williams grin with amusement. Another woman yelled that he sounded as good as ever. At that point, Williams quipped, “People keep saying things to me. I wish I could hear them, I guess.†A man then shouted to him, “She said you still got it.†In Williams’ typical unassuming style, he answered, “Well, I sure appreciate that.†So do his fans.
