NORMAN — Fans driving south to the University of Oklahoma Football Spring Game on Saturday could get sacked by a blitz of Interstate 35 construction in north Norman.

The state Transportation Department is in the first phase of widening I-35 through Norman.

The southbound I-35 exit to U.S. 77 (Flood Avenue) is closed until August for replacement, transportation officials said, though the northbound ramp from U.S. 77 onto the interstate is still open.

The southbound off-ramp to eastbound Robinson Street is closed this month, but the west Robinson exit is open and drivers can use it to reach Robinson in both directions.

People driving south on I-35 for the game also can get off at Main Street, Lindsey Street or State Highway 9, though Lindsey Street has only one lane in each direction.

Also, the west Interstate Drive frontage road between Tecumseh Road and Robinson Street is being detoured to 36th Avenue NW for bridge work.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 1:15 p.m. The stadium’s gates will open about 11:45 a.m.
