Dossin Great Lakes Museum hosts Navy Week events

DETROIT (AP) — Free activities are being hosted at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle as part of the Navy Week celebration in Detroit.

Visitors can view the "Pride of Michigan" Naval training ship from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The ship is docked near the museum. Current and former Naval Sea Cadets will discuss their experiences.

Great Lakes exploration, ecology and history will be topics of films and presentations by the Noble Odyssey Foundation on Great Lakes.

Navy Veterans' Day will be celebrated Sunday with free admission for all U.S. military veterans and their families. A special flag-raising ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Navy Week is designed to highlight the investment Americans have made in their armed forces. It ends Monday.
