"(Elk City) wanted to take away our fullback, and our option game,” Douglass coach Willis Alexander said. "And, they did a great job of doing that. Then, they started to decide that they were going to take away our quarterback and take away our sweeps. So, we just ran a little basic dive play, and we went out and executed the play and made it happen.”

Threatt finished with 108 yards on nine rushes to go along with his touchdown.

Destin Stewart teamed with quarterback Antyoun Smith to attack Elk City (1-3 overall, 0-1 District 4A-1) from the air, while Threatt provided Douglass' ground power. Stewart caught a 54-yard pass from Smith midway through the final period to ensure the Elks could not stage a rally.

"We throw when we need to throw, and when we want to throw,” Alexander said. "We just have to make plays happen, and we did. We just have to make plays happen in the passing game.”

Smith ran for 114 yards and threw for 86.

Stewart, who is being recruited by Tulsa, New Mexico and Hawaii, finished with 87 receiving yards on four receptions.

"In the second half, we all just came out and did what we were supposed to do,” Stewart said. "I was just trying to find my role and do whatever coach Alexander asks me to do.”

Douglass (3-1, 1-0) did the rest with defense. Kameron Harrison scored the Elks' only second-half points, finishing a short-field drive with a 32-yard scoring run.

"We just had to concentrate on what we were doing,” Alexander said of his defense's second-half performance. "Just sit back, relax and play football the way we know how to play.”
