NORMAN — Four-star Douglass defensive end Deondre Clark, who said he was no longer considering Oklahoma after former assistant coach Jackie Shipp was fired, appears to have softened his stance on the Sooners.

Clark will attend OU’s spring game April 13, his mother, Dorshell Clark, told The Oklahoman on Thursday.

Clark has lots of impressive scholarship offers from around the country, including offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and USC.

Shipp, who had been on Oklahoma’s coaching staff since Bob Stoops was first hired in 1999, had a good relationship with Deondre Clark. When Shipp was let go, Clark seemed to have completely ruled OU out.

But new OU defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery appears to have worked toward building a relationship with the 6-foot-3, 240-pound Clark.

Deondre Clark is No. 1 on The Oklahoman’s Super 30 recruiting rankings for the 2014 class.

His brother, basketball superstar Stephen Clark, signed with Oklahoma State and will play for the Cowboys next season. Deondre Clark holds a football scholarship offer from the Cowboys.
