Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables is shopping in his old backyard, extending a scholarship offer to Douglass junior defensive end Deondre Clark on Saturday, according to Douglass coach Willis Alexander.

Venables, a long-time assistant on Bob Stoops’ Oklahoma staff, just completed his first season at Clemson, which was 11-2 and defeated LSU in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

Clark, 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, set a school record with 22 sacks, while adding 99 tackles and 20 quarterback hurries to vault himself up the list of the state’s most sought-after junior prospects. His offer list now includes OU, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, LSU and several others.

Clark is the second Oklahoma player in the 2014 class to be offered by Clemson, along with Broken Arrow running back Devon Thomas, who is committed to Oklahoma State.
