•Breakdown: A good start is needed for the Cowboys to build momentum. The trip to Seattle makes it more difficult for a team that went 2-4 on the road last season, but Washington State is a team in severe rebuilding mode.

•Chance to dirty OSU's season: 42 percent

Sept. 6: vs. Houston
•Breakdown: The west end zone will be rockin' for the home opener. And like WSU, Houston is under a first-year coach in Kevin Sumlin.

Sept. 27: vs. Troy
•Breakdown: Time to erase memories of last year's embarrassment. And OSU's home-field advantage will be felt.

•Breakdown: Last year's shoulda, woulda, coulda in Aggieland will be erased and OSU will have its fourth 5-0 start since 1945. (The others: 1987, 1997 and 2004)
