The uniform craze has been running wild through college football, starting with Oregon a few years ago, reaching other programs like Oklahoma State and even tradition-staunch schools such as Notre Dame and Nebraska most recently.

While the high school game hasn't gone quite so crazy, uniform changes and additions are creating a buzz around the state. While some schools are adding multiple helmets and additional uniform colors, others are sticking to their strong traditional roots.

Whether it's a new look, old-school or just a unique style, The Oklahoman high school staff takes a look at some of the state's best uniforms.

The best new-look uniforms

A few programs in the state are following the Oregon trail, adding multiple helmet, jersey and pant colors. And others are simply adapting to new, edgy styles. Here are some of the best new-look uniform designs around the state.

Broken Arrow

Black uniforms are the hottest trend, but it's old hat at BA. Yet the Tigers still do all-black as well as anyone. And they added a gold look that is tough to pull off, but they did it well.

Edmond Santa Fe

One of the more unique new looks, especially with the home combination of green jerseys with gray sleeves and gray pants with “Santa Fe” written down the side in a unique font.

Norman North

Two distinct styles with the addition of a new-age black look. The Timberwolves also have a throwback design that is especially crisp on the road, resembling the old Philadelphia Eagles, with green helmets, white jerseys with green shoulder stripes and gray pants.

Southmoore

Since the school opened in 2008, the football team has been on the leading edge of uniform style. The latest version is a new-look take on throwback style with different colored sleeves and an angled stripe down the leg.

Yukon

Not many teams have gone so far as to add multiple helmets, but Yukon has done it as part of their all-black look that includes a matte-finish helmet with BYU-style “Y” logo. The Millers now have two helmets, three jerseys and four pant colors, using lots of combinations.

Best traditional uniforms

Ada

One of the most tradition-rich programs in the state also has one of the most tradition-rich unis, led by the classic white block A on maroon helmets.
