Marilyn: I'm writing about the gas-guzzler-versus-a-hybrid question. (September 20, 2009) The problem is that in order to make the extra expense of a hybrid worthwhile, a person has to drive a large number of miles each year, but doing so usually involves a lot of high-speed highway miles, where the hybrid technology is no benefit. So it seems to me that the economic benefits of hybrids would be mostly for city taxis and delivery trucks.
