Duke forward Jabari Parker has been named the Integris Wayman Tisdale Freshman of the Year by the United States Basketball Writers Association.

Parker, a 6-foot-8 Chicago native, averaged 19.3 points and 8.8 rebounds for the Blue Devils this season, leading Duke to the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament title game and a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Widely projected to be a top 5 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Parker beat out fellow star freshmen Joel Embiid (Kansas), Julius Randle (Kentucky), Andrew Wiggins (Kansas), Aaron Gordon (Arizona) and Tyler Ennis (Syracuse) for the award.

Parker, Ennis, Randle, Embiid and Wiggins were named to the Freshman All-American team.

Parker will be presented the award April 14 in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart won the award last season.
