MIAMI (AP) — Mike Dunn is called a vulture by his Miami Marlins teammates. This is not a bad thing.
Dunn has been one of the go-to arms in the Marlins bullpen all season, and his effectiveness has been rewarded. He leads the team with 10 wins despite not making a single start, and is the first reliever in Major League Baseball to reach double-digits in victories since 2011.
His latest right-place, right-time win came Thursday night, when he threw two perfect innings and the Marlins rallied to top Arizona 5-4 to help their chances in the National League wild-card chase.
Dunn says it's more of a team accomplishment than anything else — but for whatever reason, things seem to go his way.
