NORMAN — Not even a perpetual downpour could cool off Landry Jones.

The redshirt freshman quarterback threw three touchdown passes and 13th-ranked Oklahoma took out plenty of frustration on Idaho State 64-0 Saturday night before 84,749 rain-soaked fans at Owen Field.

Jones, who made his first career start as Sam Bradford continues to nurse a separated shoulder suffered during last week’s loss to Brigham Young, completed 18 of 32 passes for 286 yards with only one interception.

All three of Jones’ touchdown passes went to Ryan Broyles in the first half.

The first came on the opening play of OU’s second drive, when Jones connected with Broyles for a 24-yard touchdown strike that put the Sooners on the board 7-0.

Later in the first quarter, Broyles raced past the Idaho State defensive backfield and Jones found him down the sideline for a 51-yard score.

But the most impressive touchdown pass and catch was the last.

Jones placed the ball perfectly in the corner of the end zone over a Bengal defender and Broyles managed to snag the ball while keeping a foot in bounds.

Broyles played great but I see the handwriting on the wall. If other receivers don't step up and become dependable then what will we do come Miami or Texas? What happens when Broyles gets double teamed? We've gotta have another go to guy.
