Kevin Durant plans to politick Orlando star Dwight Howard, who will be an assistant coach for the sophomore team tonight in the rookie-sophomore game that’s part of All-Star weekend in Phoenix.

"I’m going to tell him I want to guard Russ the whole game,” Durant said. "You might see a show.”

Durant was referring to Thunder teammate Russell Westbrook, who will be on the nine-man rookie squad. Thunder teammate Jeff Green will join Durant on the sophomore roster. Tipoff is at 8 p.m.

The sophomores have won six consecutive games and seven of the last eight. Dwyane Wade will serve as an assistant coach on the rookie team.

Durant scored a team-high 23 points last season in a 136-109 loss in New Orleans.

"It will be an unbelievable experience,” Durant said. "I told Russell I had so much fun out there last year. With two of my teammates there it’s going to be even better. It will be a lot of fun.”
