KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — Dynamo Kiev fired coach Yuri Semin on Monday, a day after a Ukraine Cup loss to rival Shakhtar Donetsk.

Dynamo spokesman Olexiy Semenenko said that a replacement for Semin will be announced before the team's practice on Tuesday.

Semenenko declined to give a reason for the move, but the firing comes a day after Dynamo lost to Shakhtar 4-1. Dynamo also lost by the same score to French club Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League opener last week.

Shakhtar also beat Dynamo 3-1 on Sept. 2 in the Ukrainian league.

Dynamo was beaten in four of its last five games and stands third in the Ukrainan league after nine matches.

"FC Dynamo thanks Yuri Semin and the entire coaching staff for their cooperation and wishes him success in his future endeavors," the club said in a statement.

Semin was first appointed coach of Dynamo in 2007, and won the league title in 2009. He then rejoined his old club Lokomotiv Moscow, only to return to Dynamo in 2010.
