MOSCOW (AP) — Dynamo Moscow started its Russian Premier League campaign in impressive form on Sunday, routing FC Rostov 7-3 at home to go to the top of the table.
Dynamo striker Alexander Kokorin scored a hat trick and former Germany international Kevin Kuranyi added two more goals in the highest-scoring, top-flight Russian game in 15 years.
Former Queens Park Rangers defender Christopher Samba and Hungary international Balazs Dzsudzsak also scored for Dynamo, which has spent heavily over the last two years in pursuit of a first league title since 1976.
Dmitry Poloz scored twice and Alexandru Gatcan once for Rostov.
Dynamo was joined at the top of the table by Spartak and Zenit St. Petersburg, both of which won their opening games 4-0.
