Fewer people donate blood on summertime Mondays and Tuesdays. So, Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) has enlisted the Oklahoma City RedHawks to provide special rewards for those who do.
“Early bird” blood donors at all OBI donor centers will get vouchers for two general admission tickets* to a RedHawks’ baseball game. Tickets to June 24, July 26 or Aug. 12 games can be claimed at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark during regular box office hours with a photo ID.
The offer is available June 4 through Aug. 14, only at Oklahoma Blood Institute donor centers.
“Summer presents a real challenge to meet the needs of 144 hospitals we serve," said Dr. John Armitage, president and CEO of the blood institute. "You know, the need for blood doesn’t take a summer break.
"Patients in Oklahoma hospitals have needs 365-days-a-year, whether it’s for scheduled treatments or for emergencies. We hope donors will visit us on Mondays and Tuesday, when donations tend to slump.
