An early May death has been ruled a homicide by the state medical examiner’s office, the Oklahoma City police reported.

Police were called on May 4 to 3212 SE 56 to conduct a welfare check. Officers found paramedics with Maria Esther Gonzales, 29, of Oklahoma City, and Gonzales was taken to a hospital. She died on May 8, police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.

Investigators think Gonzales and her boyfriend were in a physical altercation when she suddenly collapsed, Knight said.

No arrests have been made in the case, and the Oklahoma County district attorney’s office will determine if any charges will be filed, Knight said.
