NORMAN — City council members Tuesday will consider a resolution in support of funding a temporary library branch on E Lindsey Street.
Council members Roger Gallagher, Linda Lockett and Dave Spaulding requested the resolution.
The resolution asks that funding be included in the 2013 budget to rent space for an eastside branch library. Funding is included in the budget for converting the former Borders building on the west side into a branch library.
Councilman Roger Gallagher said he, Lockett and Spaulding have explored the possibility of leasing space in a building on E Lindsey where the state driver's license examiners formerly had offices.
“Right now the eastside residents have to use a circulation barrel in the parking lot of the B&B Country Store, which subjects customers to the vagaries of wind, rain, ice and snow,” Gallagher said.
Leasing agents for the building on E Lindsey seem amenable to renting space to the city at a reasonable rate, he said.
