Eating disorders plague teenage boys, too Published: June 14, 2013

A recent survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that high school boys in Los Angeles are twice as likely to induce vomiting or use laxatives to control their weight.

The Los Angeles Times reports they are also more likely to have used diet pills, powders or liquids than boys nationwide.

Why is that?

Some experts say boys are starting to face the pressures long placed on girls to lose weight. Boys feel like they are expected to be buff men celebrated in pop culture, according to The Times.
