But Josh Kivett, the manager for Sen. Jim Inhofe’s campaign, said he hadn’t seen any evidence the economy is changing the dynamics of the Senate race against Democratic challenger Andrew Rice.

Polling in the presidential race and other congressional races in the country has shown shifts toward Democratic candidates as the economic news has worsened.

In last week’s debate, Inhofe said the country was in a slump. Kivett said Inhofe will point out jobs he has helped create by bringing money to Oklahoma for infrastructure, road, bridge and water projects, military construction and by supporting the farm bill.

Geri Prado, Rice’s campaign manager, said the campaign would emphasize the economy.

"I can tell you we’re going to talk about the economy. ... It is the number one issue on everybody’s mind.” Prado said a one recent poll shows the gap is closing between heavily favored Inhofe and Rice.

"I assume it has something to do with the economy,” she said.
