NewsOK 1:12 p.m. Hey everyone. We'll get started with our chat at 2 p.m., but you can start submitting your questions now.

Reporter Diana Baldwin will be logging on to talk about all things Edmond.
CB 2:04 p.m. Exited to hear about and see the development of the I-35/Covell area. Are there any plans for public or private development on I-35 in the near future?
Diana Baldwin 2:06 p.m. There is a lot going on at Interstate 35 and Covell Road. It will be exciting for people in Edmond. There is going to be a conference center, hotel, Crest, McDonalds and Braums.
Cross Timber 2:06 p.m. I've noticed the shopping center at the SW corner of 33rd & Blvd. is being totally renovated. Any idea what is going in there?
Diana Baldwin 2:07 p.m. The renovated shopping center is looking good. So far, there has been no announcement about what is going in there.
Mike 2:07 p.m. -Are there plans for any new restaurants onlong I-35 between 15th and Covell?
Diana Baldwin 2:09 p.m. I have only heard about the restaurant at I-35 and Covell. I bet there is going to be more once the hotel and conference center starts coming out of the ground.
Stuck in Traffic 2:09 p.m. Now that the pool has opened at Mitch Park, traffic on Covell has increased. Unfortunately, the light at Covell and Santa Fe backs up since there is no dedicated left turn lane. Yet the light can be programmed to give a dedicated left turn from Covell West to Santa Fe South. How come the city doesn't turn that feature on? It would really help. Also, do you know if the city ever plans on Widening that intersection?
Diana Baldwin 2:10 p.m. Things are a mess at Covell and Santa Fe now. There is plans to put in turn lanes in the near future.
Jane 2:10 p.m. What's going on in Edmond this weekend?
Diana Baldwin 2:13 p.m. The big thing this week is graduation ceremonies for all three of the Edmond public schools. It is Saturday at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.

Also, there is the first family bike ride on Saturday at Mitch Park. It is in recognition of National Bike Month.
Rick 2:13 p.m. Any new businesses opening in Edmond?
Diana Baldwin 2:14 p.m. I hear there is going to be a new Irish pub downtown where the big question mark is displayed.
Jimbo 2:14 p.m. Diana - I was wanting to volunteer and help others in the community. Do you know of any organizations based here in Edmond where I could help?
Diana Baldwin 2:15 p.m. Jimbo: How about the Hope Center. They always need help there.
Steph 2:15 p.m. Covell is pretty popular these days, esp. with trucks hauling pipe. Any time estimate on making it four lanes from Boulevard to Sooner?
Diana Baldwin 2:18 p.m. Covell will be a four lane parkway from Santa Fe to Interstate 35 someday when the money is available. City leaders are going to make it four lane on Covell near Interstate 35 to address the traffic with all development near the new conference center and hotel.
Jane 2:18 p.m. Has the city council weighed in on urban chickens? I know OKC rejected the proposal.
Diana Baldwin 2:19 p.m. Yes. The city council heard from a woman this week who wanted urban chickens. Mayor Charles Lamb said they have been looking at the ordinances, but still need to do their homework on whether chickens can live in Edmond.
Pete 2:20 p.m. What is the status of the splash pad?
Diana Baldwin 2:21 p.m. The city is currently advertising for bids to construct the city's first splash pad at Main and Kelly. The plan is to have it open by the end of July.
John 2:21 p.m. is he 66 park gong to open before next year
Guest 2:22 p.m. Is it true that there have been talks to put in a movie theater in the Covell Uptown Grocery center?
Diana Baldwin 2:23 p.m. John: The only thing keeping the softball field from being open is the lighting. City council accepted a bid Monday night for the lights. They say it will be open this summer.
Diana Baldwin 2:24 p.m. Guest: I haven't heard about a movie theater at Uptown. I will check. That might be interesting.
Jane 2:24 p.m. Any local shops or coffee shops you would recommend?
Diana Baldwin 2:26 p.m. I find myself stopping a lot at Spouts and Uptown Grocery depending what part of Edmond I am working. Both places offer something different. I like that.
Diana Baldwin 2:27 p.m. Last call for questions. We are going to wrap this up soon.
CB 2:27 p.m. Do you think Edmond will annex more of the unincorporated Deer Creek area west of Santa Fe and north of Covell?
Diana Baldwin 2:28 p.m. No I don't. I think Edmond has enough to take care of with the development of the east side of the city.
Diana Baldwin 2:31 p.m. That's all for today. Thanks for joining me. The next live chat will be at 2 p.m. June 19. In the meantime if you have questions, you can email me at dbaldwin@opubco.com.
