Edmond church hosts Lenten event

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church's 2013 Lenten Mission gatherings continue at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at 924 S Littler Ave.

— The 2013 Lenten Mission continues at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 924 S Littler Ave.

The Rev. Larry Richards of Erie., Pa., will conduct the sessions, which are designed to help people grow in their love of God and give them hope and direction in their daily lives.

Mission gatherings are free. An offering will be taken Thursday.

Richards is pastor of St. Joseph Church/Bread of Life Community in Erie. He is founder and president of “The Reason for Our Hope Foundation,” a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating people about Christ.

Each night of the parish mission has a theme: Tuesday, “The Mass: Love of Others”; Wednesday, “Confession: Sacrament of Reconciliation”; and Thursday, “Adoration and Healing.”

The event is sponsored by the church's evangelization board.
