Prawdzienski said he decided to run for mayor because he doesn't like decisions being made by the city council. He is upset the way the city is spending its money and raising taxes.

In the Ward 4 race, Massey was appointed to the post a year ago to fill the unexpired term of former Councilman David Miller, who resigned to take a job out of state.

Abbitt, a Devon Energy reservoir engineer, said she decided to run because she has some concerns about the council's long-term goal to become a destination to experience art, entertainment, amateur sporting events and outdoor recreation, as outlined in council's 2012-13 strategic plan.

Abbitt said she questions whether the government should pick and choose which businesses to help out in a partnership.

Massey, former vice chairman of the Edmond Economic Development Authority, is a supporter of the hotel-conference center and the city's $11 million investment because he thinks it is good for the city's economic development.
