Edmond City Council candidates will speak at forum
Edmond Mayor Charles Lamb and his challenger Richard Prawdzienski will join Ward 4 City Councilman Nick Massey and his challenger Shilpa Abbitt for a candidates' forum March 26 at the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce. The general election is April 2.
EDMOND — Candidates for mayor and the Ward 4 city council post are expected to appear at an Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce candidates' forum March 26.
The forum will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the chamber, 825 E Second St.
Mayor Charles Lamb and challenger Richard Prawdzienski will be on the Edmond general election ballot April 2.
Ward 4 City Councilman Nick Massey will face challenger Shilpa Abbitt.
Lamb has been on the city council for 16 years. He has been mayor since November 2011, when he was appointed to fill the unexpired term of former Mayor Patrice Douglas, who resigned to become a state corporation commissioner.
This will be the seventh time Lamb has run for a city council job. He was successful four of those times.
Lamb said he considered retiring from the council but decided he wanted to see projects, such as the new public safety center and the competitive swimming pool and recreation center, finished before he left office.
Prawdzienski has run for state office six times and lost each race, the latest in November against Republican state Sen. Clark Jolley.
