Edmond continues to see positive sales tax growth
November's sales tax collection check for Edmond continued to show positive growth, giving the city a 17.95 percent increase over the same five-month period a year ago. This year's budget projection was for 3 percent growth.
EDMOND — Sales tax collections continue to show positive growth, giving Edmond a 17.95 percent increase over the same five-month period a year ago.
“We continue to see very good numbers from our most critical revenue source,” said City Manager Larry Stevens.
This year's budget projection was for 3 percent growth. The fiscal year began in July.
So far, Edmond has collected $25,646,378 million in sales tax revenue, up more than $6.8 million from last year.
“This is extremely positive growth,” said Ross VanderHamm, city finance director.
Again this month, city officials said one of the major reasons for the revenue increase is the sale of materials for roof repairs from a summer hailstorm.
This is the fourth month sales taxes from material for roof repairs have been a major factor in the city's major revenue source.
VanderHamm said he thinks the normal sales tax growth should be between 6 and 8 percent once the sale of roof repair materials is over.
