Big dogs and small ones turned out in Edmond to hunt for 783 plastic Easter eggs filled with dog treats.

Diane Self, the city's parks and recreation department program manager, said 70 to 80 dogs turned out for Edmond's first-ever Hound Hunt at the dog park in Bickham-Rudkin Park.

“Some of the dogs were trained to find the eggs and open them,” Self said.

Among the brightly colored eggs were two silver eggs for the grand prizes, which were natural dog treats from Barker and Friends, a company at Edmond's Farmers Market.

“We really had people of all ages, young up to seniors,” Self said. “It was a great afternoon. The dogs were well-behaved. It was a beautiful day, and people had a good attitude.”

The city plans to repeat the Hound Hunt next year.
