Edmond elementary students prepare to compete in national chess competition in Dallas

Students at Edmond’s Ida Freeman Elementary School gave chess lessons and competed with Rotary Club of Edmond, a long-time partner and supporter of the school. Students are competing nationally in Dallas on Saturday.

With continuing support from the Rotary Club of Edmond, Ida Freeman Elementary School’s nationally ranked chess team prepared for a national competition.

Edmond Rotary, a long-time partner and supporter of Ida Freeman Elementary, recently took chess lessons from and competed with the students.

Edmond Rotary Club and its members donated several thousand dollars over the past several years to offset the travel cost for the team, which was scheduled to compete Saturday in the national competition in Dallas.
